Reviewette: Angels' Judgement by Nalini Singh

Reviewette: Must Love Hellhounds Anthology, "Angels' Judgement" by Nalini Singh

From New York Times bestselling authors Charlaine Harris and Nalini Singh and national bestselling authors Ilona Andrews and Meljean Brook, tales of man's worst friend...

In these hound-eat-hound worlds, anything goes. And everything bites.

Follow paranormal bodyguards Clovache and Batanya into Lucifer's realm, where they encounter his fearsome four-legged pets, in Charlaine Harris's The Britlingens Go to Hell. Seek out a traitor in the midst of a guild of non- lethal vampire trackers, one that intends to eradicate the entire species of bloodsuckers, in Nalini Singh's Angels' Judgment. Find out why the giant three-headed dog that guards the gates of Hades has left the underworld for the real world - and whose scent he's following - in Ilona Andrews's Magic Mourns. Embark on a perilous search for the kidnapped niece of a powerful vampire alongside her blind - and damn sexy - companion and a hellhound in Meljean Brook's Blind Spot.

These four novellas by today's hottest paranormal authors will have hellhound lovers everywhere howling.

Guild Hunter Series Prequel - The events in "Angels' Judgement" preclude those in ANGELS' BLOOD but can be read at any time.

Sarah Haziz, a Guild Hunter, is teetering on the brink of a major life changing decision. Should she hang up her weapons and claim the position as Guild Director of one of the most influential chapters of the Guild in the world? Or not....

The Guild is an advanced and organized version of bounty hunting. Angels Make vampires from voluntary humans with the return payment of servitude for one hundred years. It's the Guild's job to hunt down those vamps that have unwisely escaped their masters and return them, preferably alive. Sarah, like many Hunters, finds it amazing how soon newly turned vampires decide to renege on their contracts. As if immortality wasn't enough, the vamps want to be free too. But then again, Sarah couldn't envision serving anyone, especially angels and more importantly, archangles. There's just something wholly inhuman about them - well they're not human. They're a completely separate species that have inhabited the Earth as long, if not longer than humans.

On a recent assignment, Sarah locates her missing vampire, Rodney, with his head nearly decapitated. Assuming he'd entangled with a vampire hate group, Sarah thinks nothing of it for the moment until she's suddenly assisted by a giant of a man who brings unbidden and to the forefront, a slew of sexual fantasies. For one scary second, Sarah is caught in an aggressive onslaught of pure lust and by the reciprocal heated look from the man before her, she's not alone in her sinful urges.

He's The Slayer - A Hunter who hunts rogue Hunters. Deacon Cross, a loner by nature and also by job requirement, suspects that Rodney is a victim of a rogue Hunter and has been sent to assist Sarah. It's also a subtle move by the current Guild Director as a safety precaution. With Sarah being his candidate of choice for replacement, the Guild Director knows that the angles will test his decision and by sending Deacon in, it affords him some measure of precaution where Sarah's concerned.

While Sarah catches on pretty quick to the "babysitting" gig (and isn't too happy about it), she figures one wild night with tall, dark and dangerous before becoming Guild Director isn't a bad way to end her Hunter days. But it doesn't take more than one night for Sarah's heart to become endangered of falling in love with a self-prescribed loner who loves his job. It would be hard to find any man who'd want to take on the Guild Director in a life long commitment.

In the meantime, Sarah has a rogue Hunter to track down and angels to impress. Catching a mate should be the farthest from her mind.

I'll take Nalini Singh any way I can get her, even in short, condensed versions. I'm seriously that much in love with her Guild Hunter Series. All you paranormal romance lovers that have not yet read this series, I say this: WTF are you waiting for??!! ;)

"Angels's Judgement" can be read at any time and while the events occur before book one, ANGELS' BLOOD, there are no spoilers for the excitement to come. After reading "Angels' Judgement", I think its a good place to start in the series. While Sarah is a major player in ANGELS' BLOOD as Elena's best friend, Singh takes the time in the novella to explain how and why she ultimately becomes the Guild Director.

Sarah is fun and sassy and compliments Deacon's serious nature and dark aura to perfection. Their chemistry is explosive and the events surrounding their romance are action packed and exciting to read. New comers to the series won't be lost and for those of us in need of our next fix, "Angels' Judgement" provides it.

And three parites?! Wahoo!!! I hope you have fantastic time!!

LOL, Smokinhotbooks!! I'm with you, it would take a pretty crazy price for me not to pick up something that featured Nalini Singh.

Leontine! Sigh...Raphael. I'm so in love with that antihero. Gawd am I ever!!!!

Hey Tricia! Thanks! Oh yeah, you can definitely start the series with this novella. It's the perfect introductory. Happy Reading!
