Reviewette: Invite Me In by Delilah DevlinBack Cover Blurb (Taken from Author's Website)
On a sultry night in the French Quarter, alone in a room thick with desire, she is able to channel the wanton mating of the couple down the hall — each kiss, each sensation, each stroke is as real to her as if she were the one being ravished. In her desperate arousal, she unconsciously calls out to him, until he is at her door, in her bed, knowing fully what she wants and how to satisfy her completely…
She is suddenly awoken by a male voice commanding her to invite him in. She knows this voice. She's heard it before. But why he's returned when the woman next door could have hardly satisfied him is beyond her understanding. But no matter, she's just glad he's back.
Infiltrating the mind of her female neighbor, she lives every sensation that he bestows upon her. She uses the woman's fingers so caress his skin and feel his heat. But when the sharp pinpricks slowly descend into the flesh of the woman's neck, she flees from her mind, frighted by the sensations.
No sooner has she returned to herself when the voice once again commands her to invite him in but this time it's not from the woman's apartment next door. He's at her balcony.
She knew from the first that he would be different and when she opens the door, the fact that he's on her balcony doesn't even give her the slightest pause. He has what she needs and he wants what she has. Mutual understanding dawns and they allow their desires to ignite. In each other, they've finally found what they've always needed.

This was my first read by Delilah Devlin and it won't be my last. This short was as hot as it was passionate. It captivated me from beginning to end. He, a vampire, is a being of immense strength and at any moment, he could have overpowered her and made her enjoy it. But instead he's impossibly gentle. While she, a succubus, opens her mind to his penetration and allows the heated desires that she's obtained to wash over him in waves. They form instant trust without ever disclosing their names but you know that whatever started in that room, doesn't end there.
The only downside to this piece was that it's tantalizingly short! I couldn't believe it when my rapid flip of the pages led me to the end. At the very most, I had perhaps thirty pages of undiluted escapism. Needless to say, I was devastated.

I was a bit confused at first, but then aha, succubus, that sounds like a hot read.
ooo the coming soon looks good
Hey Blodeuedd!
lol, I was a bit confused at the beginning of the story too and it looks like I incorporated that into my review. Sorry about that. But yeah, she's a succubus and he's a vampire. And it's totally hot! I loved every word of it and I wish it had been longer. I wanted so much more.
Yeah, the upcoming book by Devlin does look really good. I've added the entire Dark Realm series to my Wish List.
;) VFG
I have read the first few books in the Dark realm series: Into The Darkness & Seduced By Darkness and they are tantalizing good reads. I loved her vampire social structure and the erotic heat...get the fan out!!
Great to know the series continues!
Hey Leontine!
Oh cool, so happy to hear that the series is good. I loved her voice in the novella and seriously, I was heartbroken that it ended so quickly.
I'm definitely pickin' up the first in this series pronto!
;) VFG
The disappointment of it being a short is the main reason I don't read anthologies often. I'm glad that you enjoyed the story though and it looks like you may have found a new author to read.
Hi Heather D! What's up girl?!
I'm totally with you on not caring for anthologies b/c of the shortness of the stories. I mostly read them b/c either one) I want to read a novella by an author I love and my fangirl tendancies will not allow me to dismiss it and two) to be introduced to new authors.
;) VFG
The upcoming book looks fantastic, and the cover is just stunning. do you know if it's erotic romance vs erotica and if it has the requisite HEA, this hussy NEEDS the HEA and the romance.
Thanks for bringing this book to my attention!!!
Hey Charlotte!
Let's see. Well, 'Darkness Burning' is published through the Avon Red line. Avon describes this line as such: "Avon Red bestows the best, most sophisticated erotic fiction available in the industry, written by the most talented authors. Avon Red is at the forefront of this up-and-coming genre and continuously brings stories so steamy and sensual you'll need a hot shower after reading."
Nothing about an HEA though. I'm going to email Delilah and find out for certain. Stay tuned.
;) VFG
Hey Charlotte, I got a freakin' fast response from Delilah Devlin. Here's what she said:
"There's straight erotica in them, but the central characters will have their romantic HEA. My vamps aren't monogamous and not the only ones having sex."
Hope that helps!
;) VFG
Yep, it helps. Hmmm, maybe I should venture out of my comfort zone, eh?
Hmmmmm, I wonder if she's going to RWA, I could buy it then.
lol! Oh man, it's always hard to venture out. We need to do book dares. I think that would be fun. ;)
I'm going to give her a shot. Hello! You have 'Naughty Bits'. You should read her short and see how you like her voice. Seriously, it only takes 20 minutes max. Ugh, so devastating!! Only 20 minutes of bliss!
Hey, you're right! DUH! Okay, I'll read that tonight.
That sounds really good and really smokin' hot VFG!
Great post!
Thanks MsM!
'Invite Me In' is thirty pages of erotic bliss.
;) VFG

I just added it to my next book order sitting waiting for me to hit the GFI button. I see there is an Eden Bradley short in there too and I love her work!

Hey Lea!
Thanks for enjoying the review!
I'm really REALLY lovin' the 'Naughty Bits' Anthology. And so far, all the shorts I've read have been available to purchase singly via ebook.
This one and Charlotte's have been my favorites. Oh, you like Eden Bradley??? I was going to read her's next. I can't wait to read what you think of 'Naughty Bits'.
Happy Reading,
VFG

Thanks Barbara!
I loved, LOVED, this short. If only it had been longer...
;) VFG
Nice review!
Sometimes a shorter book is a nice change of pace. Of course, if I really love it, I don't want it to end:)
Thanks Mandi!
Yeah, I'm having fun breaking up my novel reads with novellas from 'Naughty Bits'. Especially when I have limited reading time.
And like you, when they're good. I don't ever want them to end.
;) VFG

How exciting! I love vamps seeking night time comforts. Sounds so good, is this an ebook or print?
Thanks for a great review!
Dottie :)

Ive never read about succubus's but I did just get a new book about them...Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead...?!?! This one sounds good so maybe Ill find some new reads out of these succubuc's! lol ;o)
Hey Monroe!
This was my first succubus book, well novella. It's not long enough to fully describe their powers but it was interesting enough to make me want more.
I've seen 'Succubus Blues' arouond the blogsphere but I'm terrible with trying new authors. I'll keep an eye out for your thoughts on it.
;) VFG
Wait...so the guys next door with her neighbor and she's channeling their sex and then he shows up on her balcony ready to play? Please tell me I'm reading that wrong. lol
I like some of Delilah Devlin's work. I'm not a huge fan of her Dark Realm series but I like some other works of hers. There's a sweet, cute, hot short called Cowboy that she wrote - niiiiice. :)
Bingo Tracy! lol! That's exactly what happens. He knew she was a succubus too. It does sound a bit wrong doesn't it... I was just so swept away in the intense erotic nature of the story that "yuck!" didn't cross my thoughts at the time but now that you point out the absurdity of it...
Hmmmm...so her Dark Realm series wasn't a hit for you? Well I purchased the first book in the series so we'll see how it goes.
;) VFG
